Marina Construction Division

Through a collaborative approach to delivering a multi-marina strategy plan on the Sabah Al Ahmad Sea City, La’ala Al Kuwait developed a new delivery model coupling their construction and project management expertise with an Italian pontoon design and British mechanical and electrical design. Through this approach, La’ala have grown in less than 18 months, from being complete novices in marina construction to casting large concrete pontoons at a rate of at least 24 units per week (750 sqm) consistently.

In delivering the marinas, the following activities were internalised to better control quality, cost and programme:

• Piling, rig, pile handling, pile positioning and pile driving
• Planning and construction of high production rate construction yard
• Pontoon casting
• Pontoon installation
• Installation of gangways

The marina differentiates itself from the local competitors through:

• High stability concrete pontoons, enabling golf buggy access to all berths
• 4m wide access walkway pontoons to berths of 50ft and above
• Full length concrete fingers
• Floating restroom
• Berths up to 132ft length
• Sanitary pumpout direct from berth to all 66ft and above berths
• High speed fuel pump delivery
